BLAKE LIVELY has become a Bond girl – sort of.
The Shallows star has signed on to play a top spy in a new espionage thriller from the brains behind 007.
Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who have produced the last eight James Bond blockbusters, have also recruited The Handmaid’s Tale director Reed Morano to take charge of the movie, which will be called The Rhythm Section.
Based on Mark Burnell’s Stephanie Patrick spy novels, the film marks the first time Wilson and Broccoli have backed a non-James Bond espionage film series, according to Deadline.
Burnell will adapt the script from his own books and executive produce the film, which is set to start shooting later this year (17) in the U.K., Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.S.
Those familiar with Burnell’s books will note Stephanie Patrick is more like a female Jason Bourne than a Bond alternative.
