DUNKIRK director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN has warned ONE DIRECTION fans not to expect a lot of HARRY STYLES in his film, because the singer is just a supporting player.
The pop star has only briefly appeared in one trailer for the upcoming war movie, and Nolan reveals there’s a good reason why Harry doesn’t feature more.
“We’re not trying to oversell Harry in the movie for the specific reason that it’s an ensemble,” The Dark Knight trilogy director tells Entertainment Weekly. “We don’t want people who are huge fans of his being disappointed that he’s not in it enough.”
But Nolan makes it clear he was very impressed with the young star’s acting talents.
“I think what Harry does is extremely subtle because it’s very real,” he adds. “It’s not cartoonish. It’s not obvious. He really taps into the reality of the situation. It’s a subtle performance.
“It almost risks being missed because what it’s actually doing. I think it’s a great character for him, and I think he did an incredible job.”
Fans will be able to see Harry as soldier Alex when Dunkirk hits cinemas on 21 July (17).
