DAVID BECKHAM is expanding his empire with a men’s grooming line in partnership with L’OREAL.
The former soccer ace, who is already established in the fragrance market with his namesake aftershaves, has created House 99, his debut beauty collection.
And the range, made up of skincare, hair products, and shaving necessities, is about efficiency.
“We went through very carefully and decided what I personally like and also what guys like,” Beckham said at a press conference. “In my world, it’s very simple: Get up, shower, moisturise and then do the same before I go to bed. But obviously, we have added products that I feel are very personal to me.”
House 99 will be exclusive to British retailer Harvey Nichols from 1 February (18), before rolling out nationwide and then to retailers in 19 other countries starting 1 March.
Asked about how he came up with the name, style icon Beckham explained that the year 1999 was special for him.
“As a person, as a sportsman and I just became more mature because I had to (with) the birth of my first son, Brooklyn,” he smiled. “I got married and won the treble with Manchester United (Football Club). It was such a momentous year for me personally.
“(And House because) I’ve always been part of a team throughout my career, and even now, in my business world, I have a great team of people around me.”
As well as creating the products and coming up with the brand name, the 42-year-old has also posed for the campaign imagery.
