Movie hunk JOE MANGANIELLO is impressed by BEN AFFLECK’s refreshing take on BATMAN.
The Magic Mike star has signed on to play Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, in The Batman, and he recently sat down with Affleck, who will play the Caped Crusader in the movie and direct, to look over the plot and the script – and he was blown away by the Oscar winner’s vision.
He claims Affleck, who made his debut as Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting alter-ego in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is working on a project that will be unlike any other Batman film – and he can’t wait for fans to see it.
“When I met Ben we sat down and we talked about, you know, the role,” he told the Super Genius podcast. “We talked about the movie. His take is a fresh take but I think the audience is going to be surprised.
“It’s a road that no one’s really gone down that’s completely integral to who Batman is, and I think it’s gonna be refreshing but at the same time completely familiar.
“It’s going to take this franchise in a direction that I think a lot of people are going to be really happy about. It’s going to be gritty and action packed and cerebral and all of those elements that people love about Batman.”
Affleck is currently working on the script alongside comic book writer Geoff Johns, according to LatinoReview, and Manganiello assures fans Batman is in very good hands.
“Ben’s a great director, man,” Joe gushed. “I mean the last movie that man directed (Argo) won best picture (at the Oscars). He’s got an Oscar for writing (for Good Will Hunting)… Everything is lined up for a really, really, really great movie. Not only a superhero movie but just a great, great movie.”
