Rapper DMX has been placed on house arrest after reportedly failing four drug tests.
The 46-year-old, born Earl Simmons, surrendered to New York authorities on 13 July (17) after he was slapped with 14 federal counts of tax evasion and accused of failing to pay $1.7 million (£1.3 million) to America’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He entered a not guilty plea and was granted bail.
Under the terms of his release, the rapper was told he must remain in the New York area while the case is pending. But the Party Up (Up in Here) hitmaker reportedly left the state to visit family in St Louis, Missouri without notifying his probation officer – something he is supposed to do before travelling.
On Friday (11Aug17), he appeared in court in New York and, according to TMZ, the judge learned he had also tested positive for marijuana and cocaine on four separate occasions in recent weeks.
DMX was placed under house arrest and has been ordered to wear an ankle bracelet.
