SHIA LABEOUF has apologised for the foul and racist comments he made during his arrest for drunken behaviour at the weekend (08Jul17).

The Transformers star was taken into custody early on Saturday and booked for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after police officers in Georgia spotted the actor “losing control of himself” during a night out.

He was also booked for obstruction.

Footage from his arrest, featuring the actor hurling abuse at cops, has since gone viral, and in one outrageous clip, Shia tells an African-American officer he’s going to hell for the colour of his skin.

In the footage, obtained by TMZ, LaBeouf snarls, “You’re going to hell, straight to hell, bro,” before accusing the cop of being racist, adding, “A black man arrested me for being white.”

An unnamed white officer interjects and tells Shia, “That doesn’t mean he’s going to hell.”

After the police station video was posted online on Wednesday (12Jul17), LaBeouf apologised for the events leading to his arrest and the racist rant, revealing he’s now taking steps to get his alcohol addiction under control.

“I am deeply ashamed of my behavior and make no excuses for it,” a statement reads. “My outright disrespect for authority is problematic to say the least, and completely destructive to say the worst… It is a new low. A low I hope is a bottom.”

“I have been struggling with addiction publicly for too long, and I am actively taking steps toward securing my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes,” he adds.

Shia returned to the set of a new movie he is shooting in Savannah, Georgia on Monday (10Jul17).
