24. 1968: Arnold Schwarzenegger in New York for the First Time
Growing up in a strict and poor household, Schwarzenegger did not have it easy as a child in Austria. Amidst his familial misery, Arnold Schwarzenegger started to dream of moving to the United States at a very early age. With no money and broken English, he was able to realize his dream when he was 21 years old. After a successful bodybuilding career throughout the ’80s and ’70s, Arnold set his eyes on acting in the ’90s and started landing roles in big-budget action flicks, and the rest was history. He was even the governor of California for eight years between 2003 and 2011.
23. 1970s: Barbra Streisand in Deep Contemplation
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Barbara Streisand is regarded as an icon and legend today because there’s nothing she can’t do, from singing to acting. And she has multiple Oscars, Grammys, Tonys, and Emmys to back that statement up. Though she had to endure a lot of sexism and grief in her day because of her unconventional beauty, she was a knockout who was more talented than many of her peers, which is why she is still an irrefutable national treasure.
